KIMMY GATEWOOD (actor, director, producer, writer, stand up).
Kimmy and her acoustic-electric Hohner guitar unite to bring a cross between
Jewel, Jack Black, and Eminem. Her sometimes dirty, often goofy charm delivers
raw energy and silliness that appeals to a broad audience.
Kimmy was a member of the resident company of Chicago
City Limits for nearly 5 years, touring nationally and performing nightly
in the Big Apple.
Originally from Spencerville, MD, Kimmy came to New York via Syracuse
University, with B.F.A in acting with an unofficial minor in Communication and
Costume Design. Kimmy has performed improv and sketch at the Upright Citizens
Brigade Theatre, The PIT, Second City New York, Chicago City Limits, and in
the acclaimed sketch comedy show, Mr. Ralph's Neighborhood in
New York.
Kimmy's first one-woman show, Sugar Coated performed
alongside Brian Finkelstein in a show they called Raisin Bran and
Froot Loops, appeared in the Single File Festival in Chicago. Her
second one woman show Look on the Bright Side received great acclaim
and was nominated for ECNY Best Musical Act and Battle
of the Funny Band Finalist. Kimmy was recently named Best
of Musical Act 2004 by TIME OUT NY. She is currently working on her third solo show called You're a Bear! and was an Andy Kaufman Award Semi-finalist.
Kimmy sings songs with her guitar and performs stand up in New
York City and all over the nation, notably opening up for Sarah Silverman and
Wendy Liebman. Her television/voice over credits include Mastercard, Stuff It, AT&T, MTV, Showtime,
Trojan Condoms, TGIFriday, Dunkin Donuts, TBS, VH1 and Comedy Central's first
original movie Porn and Chicken. Kimmy is currently the host of the webshow Midtown Comic Live! Kimmy was a regular contributor
to Jest Magazine, girlcomic.net and Pipe Up! She wrote for the Oxygen
Network with her amazing writing partner Canedy Knowles. They are currently writing an original pilot. Kimmy co-wrote the book for SCarrie: The Musical (that's right,
that Carrie), and was a contributing writer in the Idiots
Guide to Jokes. Kimmy made her professional
debut with Sam Waterston in an acclaimed production of Long Day's Journey
Into Night at Syracuse Stage. Kimmy can currently be seen at the People's Improv Theatre (The PIT),
