BOOTLEG ISLAM
Written and Performed by Negin Farsad
Directed and Developed by Kimmy Gatewood
Wall Street Journal calls Bootleg "smart, funny and fascinating"
Curtain Up raves, "poised and humorous, with an uncanny ear for
accent and language" "Mullah this over: Amy Chan's fine AV
support, Kimmy Gatewood's direction, and
Negin Farsad's talent and polish make for a very funny and Iran-ic production."
NYTheatre.com calls Bootleg a "smart comedy...Farsad is an engaging
performer with a gift for character sketches."
Dallas Morning News says Bootleg Islam "shines" at the
2005 Dallas Comedy Festival!
The Chicago Tribune says Negin Farsad is "sharp, with Janeane
Garaofalo wit."
In Bootleg Islam, comedy award-nominated and critically acclaimed
sketch comedian, Negin Farsad presents an unconventional perspective
on her controversial homeland – Iran. Sure women are “second
class” citizens and enriched uranium lines the streets, but boy
does this fundamentalist Muslim country make for some hilarious comedy!
My Pony's in the Garage
Written and Performed by Eileen Kelly
Directed and Developed by Kimmy Gatewood
"Appealing...genuine...poignant...the real deal..." -NJ Star-Ledger
"The humor of this one-woman show reminded me of a middle-class
version of the film The Royal Tenenbaums or the television show Arrested
Development. It was witty, sarcastic and honest." -NY
COOL
"Eileen Kelly's memoir is as simple as it is direct, and
as earnest as it is genuine...a show worthy of a life beyond the Fringe." -Irish Echo
"This is one of the best-written and best-performed shows
in the festival. If you ever get a chance to see Eileen Kelly on stage,
grab it; she's a thoroughly class act." -hyreviews.com
"...a joyful celebration of family, no matter how crazy that family
may be." --nytheatre.com
"I was laughing out loud...What an amazing life story...I
see this definitley moving forward after the fringe festival is over.
Her heartfelt and funny portrayal of her family is something everyone
can realate to and something that I truly hope she has an oportunity
to share with many others." --fringe-icals.com

Eileen Kelly is in the semi-finals for Nick at Nite's America's
Funniest Mom!!
Take a trip down memory lane with Eileen Kelly as she reminisces about
overdosing on baby aspirin at age five, being electrocuted with Christmas
candles at age nine and other childhood rites of passage before
people got so hung up on child safety.
Eileen's first run of this show was at the Tank and she was 8 months
pregnant with twins! She has since performed it at The Pit (with the
babies on the otherside!)

".
I found the teaching from Kimmy was out of this world it was truly a
life changing experience. I encourage any one that wants to take a stab
at Improv go no where else. "
-Paul Roles, Financial Adviser
"The skills I learned apply to most things in life; whether
it's personal relationships where the "yes, and" exercise
reminds you to stay open and receptive and flexible as does the "here,
I brought you a present," scenario, which teaches you to basically
shut up and put up, also useful in certain life situations. Strangely,
I feel like I can apply some of the improv skills to my efforts in journalism
where the need to work with what you're given is important. Improv teaches
you to relax, think on your feet, have fun, and trust the people you're
working with. What more do you need in life?"
- Sheila Calahan, Journalist
“Kimmy is a fantastic teacher!" -Matt Warbet,
Actor
" Kimmy knows how to draw out the improvisor in even the most inexperienced
of actors." - Richard Lurie, Actor
“Helping people get motivated/organized/realistic about how
to get it done - both artistically and business wise.”
-Virginia Scott, Director, Planet Banana
"If you have never put up a show before, or even if you have,
their advice reminds you how possible it is to put up your show and
not go broke (or crazy)."
- Nina Morrison, Director/Writer
“Jen and Kimmy break the whole process down into realistic
chunks.”
-Robin Gelfenban, Solo Performer
“I finally started writing again. You two are the gurus of
the follow through! Thank you, thank you!
-Sara Alan, Actor/Writer
"So much useful information packed into three hours!"
-Ann Carr, Solo performer
